JJ Kavanagh & Sons is delighted to announce that Laura Kavanagh has won ‘The Rising Star Award’ at this year’s Energia Family Business Awards.

As we all know past 18 months have been difficult for all businesses. During that time, Laura had to work on devising a COVID-19 strategy for the company’s reopening. The first part of this strategy was the introduction of digitalisation and she transformed the organisation with the launch of a digital ticketing system to provide on-board contactless payments and online pre booking for the first time in the family firm’s 102-year history. This revolutionised the company, improving access for all and ensuring the safety and well-being of customers and staff when travelling with JJ Kavanagh & Sons. As a result, digital bookings make up 80% of all tickets purchased to date. When the company reopened on the 1 September 2020, it was positioned for the changes that COVID-19 brought to the communities it served and it was able to play its role in bringing children to school/college and essential workers to work in the safest way possible.
