Pelican, the UK agents for Chinese manufacturer Yutong has provided the first Yutong E10 electric bus into service in Scotland with Scottish Power.

The 10.9-metre emission-free vehicle has been delivered to Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre – the UK’s largest windfarm, just 20 minutes from central Glasgow.

The vehicle is the first E10 fitted with seatbelts, ensuring the visitors to the centre are transported safely.

It is fitted with full electric air-conditioning, security cameras and passenger information systems, with market-leading battery capacity coupled with fast, safe DC charging.

It can be fully charged in less than 3 hours, and supplied by Pelican Bus and Coach in Castleford, Yorkshire.

Ian Downie, Head of Yutong Bus UK speaking at the handover said: “It is a fantastic story, that with the increased focus on wind generating clean energy, that Scottish Power has invested in a zero emission vehicle powered by renewable electricity. This has to be one of the cleanest vehicles in the world, showcasing wind generating electricity and zero emission passenger transport to the visitors.”
