Another Volvo for Wexford Bus

Wexford Bus has taken delivery of a Volvo low entry bus an B8RLE MCV EVORA 10.8M with an impressive spec. Wexford Bus recently put this low floor Volvo bus into service, here is some of the spec on the new vehicle.

Engine:  Volvo D8K 320 6cyl 7.7 litre Euro VI engine rated at 320hp@2100rpm with a maximum torque of 1200Nm at 1050-1600rpm. Emission levels comply with Euro VI legislation. Engine emission control uses SCR and EGR technology. LEB certification. 

Braking System: The EBS 5 brake system is an electronically controlled pneumatic system. The front and rear brakes are disc brake design and incorporate automatic brake adjusters. ABS, ASR, DBrake – door brake function, door brake interlock. Brake temperature warning and lining wear indicator, wear compensation.

Electrical: The chassis electrical system is of multiplex design (BEA 3) and is a 24 volt negative earth system. 3 Bosch 150 amp alternators are fitted. I-Start dual battery system as standard. Electronic monitoring of oil and coolant levels and hydraulic engine cooling fans are fitted as standard. Engine oil top up system.

Transmission: ZF 6AP1400C 6 speed automatic gearbox with integral retarder. Volvo single reduction axle available with 5.63:1 ratio. Further options for higher speed.

Steering and Suspension: Electrically driven ZF Hydraulic power assisted steering. Steering pump is electrically driven. The steering wheel position is adjustable for height and rake. Suspension Electronically controlled air suspension. Beam front axle, with front axle kneeling and ferry lift. Full squat available as an option with two door variants.

Fuel System: 280 litre aluminium fuel tank fitted behind O/S/R wheel. The fuel filler is located on the right hand side (offside) of the body; this can be offered with Posi-Lock or Identic fast filling systems as an option.

Seating Capacity and Seats: Total passengers 70 – seated 32, standees 38. Seats covered in moquette with three point seatbelts. 3 tip up seats located in the wheelchair area • Chapman driver’s seat. Body – MCV Evora Model – Volvo B8RLE Low entry single deck Low Entry Single Deck B. Height 3m, Width 2.55m, Length 12.1m • 300 litre fuel tank • Design weight 19.5t.

Body Specification: Constructed of Cromweld stainless steel. Ventura Inward Glide Entrance Door. Front and rear bumpers fitted in three pieces for ease of maintenance and repair. Tinted side glass with separate hopper windows minimising glass replacement costs. New location for body/chassis electrics giving better access and more protection. Compak manual ramp to entrance door. Sanz Clima convector heating system. Top mounted heavy duty wiper system. New Invertec interior lighting system, dimming, option of concealed lighting toward the ceiling with three colour options of blue/green and white. Floor covering from Gerflor. BMAC wireless bell pushes. New gloss paint on dashboard for ease of cleaning. New step edge design with rounded corners. Additional options – Roof hatches. Airport luggage pens. Roof mounted air conditioning system. Social seating. Front entrance and centre exit doors.
