Irish‐owned soft service providers Momentum Support has been contracted by Dublin Bus to provide specialised cleaning services across its premises and fleet of buses in order to ensure the safety of employees and passengers during the current COVID‐19 pandemic. As a result, the company has created over 90 full-time positions to provide essential specialised cleaning services for Dublin Bus.

Following the onset of COVID‐19 and associated Government restrictions, Momentum Support implemented an enhanced cleaning regime whereby a team of trained operatives was mobilized to provide day‐time sanitization of buses at 24 bus termini locations throughout Dublin City.  Specifically, this involves the sanitization of all frequently touched surfaces on a bus including handrails, ticket machines, card readers, seat grab rails, bell push buttons and the driver’s cab area. Momentum Support has developed smart, innovative measures to ensure that all buses can be fully and properly sanitised without impacting negatively on Dublin Bus’s schedules or timetables. This is achieved by having Operatives present at the relevant bus termini as buses pull in and pull out throughout each day. Operatives undergo training and are supplied with cleaning chemicals and materials, personal protective equipment and also liaise closely with Dublin Bus employees.

In addition to this an increased cleaning regime was introduced with the touch surfaces of every bus in the Dublin Bus fleet being sanitized on a nightly basis across eight different depot locations.

Commenting on the new contract Ian Anderson, Group Chief Operating Officer, Momentum Support, said: “Momentum Support is proud to assist Dublin Bus in any way we can, as it provides essential transport services during the current pandemic. Dublin Bus needed a partner to help them to move quickly and meet essential cleaning and hygiene demands. We are extremely pleased to provide cleaning services that help to ensure the safety and wellbeing of passengers and staff members and curtail the spread of COVID‐19. Professional, high‐quality cleaning is the new essential service. We will continue to operate to the highest standards possible as we support our clients during this difficult time. I would like to thank all our staff for their continued hard work and dedication during these challenging times.”

James Mc Hugh, Senior Engineer, Dublin Bus added: “The health and safety of our employees and customers is paramount to Dublin Bus. As Dublin’s largest public transport provider, we needed to partner with a company that would help ensure that we met the highest standards of hygiene during this pandemic and provide a high‐quality, professional solution. Momentum Support provides an essential resource that ensures our fleet is safe, from nightly sanitisation in our depot locations to day‐time sanitisation of buses at termini locations throughout the city. This ensures that we can keep Dublin moving and provide safe transport for essential workers and people making essential journeys each day.”
