This is one a few new coaches delivered in Ireland for the past two years. Best wishes to Willie and Joe Scales on taking delivery of a new Mercedes-Benz Tourismo.

Based in Ennistymon, County Clare, Scales Coaches is a luxury private hire operator with over 50 years experience.  Founded by Tom Scales in 1970, the business is now in the hands of his son William and grandson Joseph who fully embrace the businesses’ guiding principle of “providing the very best in passenger transport with the highest quality fleet of vehicles and customer care to match”.

The new purpose-built Mercedes-Benz Tourismo was ordered from EvoBus at the back end of 2019 and originally due for delivery in March 2020.  Then COVID-19 hit and with Brexit also complicating matters, the vehicle was parked up at M50 Truck & Van Centre, the sales and service partner  for EvoBus in Dublin, until recently.  Joe Scales admitted that since delivery of the vehicle almost three weeks ago, he hasn’t actually seen it because it has been out on the road touring with customers flying in from North America.  A positive sign that in spite of travel restrictions into the United States, there is still an appetite for Americans to visit Ireland.  This vehicle will primarily be used for Scales’ inland and coastal tour programmes.

The new 12m Tourismo is powered by a Daimler OM 470 diesel engine mated to a 6-speed ZF gearbox. The i Teri features a leather steering wheel with mocha oak inlays and the 49 Luxline seats are upholstered in Lumosilver/grey.
