The world-leading manufacturer of zero emission passenger vehicles, Yutong, celebrated the historic COP26 UN climate change conference by marking 26.2 billion zero emission kilometres travelled globally by its zero emission buses and coaches since its electric vehicles were launched in 1999.
Ian Downie, head of Yutong Bus at Pelican Engineering which is the exclusive supplier for Yutong in the UK, said: “Having become the largest bus manufacturer in the world with 16% of the global market, this latest achievement by Yutong is particularly timely with the company marking over 26 billion kilometres travelled in its zero emission electric vehicles as world leaders gather for the momentous COP26 in Glasgow.
“Over the last 22 years, Yutong has built a reputation as the leader in its field and now has 123,000 zero emission vehicles in operation around the world, including 100 in the UK. With the transition to zero emission vehicles being pushed up the political agenda, we expect the transition to clean transport technology to continue to gather momentum.”
Every day, Yutong is saving the equivalent of 16 hectares of trees. With over 80,000 hectares of trees saved so far, these continuously make a significant contribution to the race to team zero.
